Start here
Welcome to the MemoToMIDI beta. Here’s the quick path from playing something to exporting MIDI.
MemoToMIDI turns a recording of your playing into editable MIDI, right on your iPhone or iPad. Play a riff, a melody, a chord part, or hum a line, and the app detects the notes.
Install
- Install TestFlight from the App Store.
- Open the invite link you were sent, or enter your code in TestFlight.
- Tap Install next to MemoToMIDI, then Open.
You’ll need an iPhone or iPad running iOS 17 or later.
Your first transcription
- Tap Record and play — or Import an audio file you already have.
- When you stop, the app transcribes automatically and lays the notes onto a piano roll.
- Set the Mode: Mono for a single line (melody, bass, lead), Poly for chords.
- Tidy up on the roll — fix wrong notes, drag, trim.
- On the Export tab, tap Save MIDI or Share to send the
.midto your DAW.
For the best results
- One instrument, up close, in a quiet room.
- Play cleanly and deliberately; clear attacks read best.
Tell us what went wrong
If a take transcribes badly, send a problem report — it bundles the recording’s audio so the issue can be reproduced.
Inside your music app
MemoToMIDI also installs as an Audio Unit (AUv3) plugin, so you can capture and transcribe without leaving AUM, GarageBand, Logic Pro for iPad, or any other host that loads Audio Units. Add to Song writes the take to iCloud Drive for the host’s own file picker; Open in App hands it to the app for full editing. The manual’s section 14 covers it.
The app, the manual, and support are in English only. Questions or trouble? Email contact@memotomidi.com.
